Mademoiselle Zaré Thalberg, 1858-1915. Zaré Thalbergs rigtige navn var Ethel Western, hun tog sit kunstnernavn efter sin lærer, pianisten Sigismond Thalberg. Hun var engelsk sopran og skuespiller. Debuterede i Covent Garden i 1875 som Zerlina i "Don Giovanni." Hun optrådte i London i fem sæsoner. Som en stor tragedie mistede hun sin stemme blot 22 år gammel. Hun blev derefter skuespiller i USA, spillede i Edwin Booth's Shakespeare Selskab, og optrådte under sit eget navn, Ethel Western. (Edwin Booth var en berømt amerikansk skuespiller, spillede bl.a. Hamlet, men han huskes bedst som bror til John Wilkes Booth, som myrdede Lincoln i 1865). Foto The London Stereoscope & Photographic Company. C. 1875.

Hayman Seleg Mendelsohn, 1847-1908.Born in Germany, Hayman Seleg Mendelssohn spent his youth in Poland. He fled to England for political reasons, where he began a photographic career, working for Daniel Downey in Newcastle upon Tyne. Mendelssohn subsequently set up his own studio there in 1873, first on Oxford Street and then on Northumberland Street. He moved to London in 1883, establishing studios on Cathcart Road, South Kensington, and Pembridge Crescent, Bayswater. A member of the Royal Photographic Society from 1884, Mendelssohn was also a founder member of the Professional Photographers Association. Kilde HER.
