Dansk guldgravet i Bendigo (Sandhurst) Victoria i Australien. BØA 2013-21. Personen er ukendt.
It is fascinating to find evidence of the migration that occurred in the mid-1800s. Several young men traveled to California and Australia for the search for gold - and several portraits were sent home to the family, so you could see that your son was alive. Surely with letters, but only the photos have survived, and sadly it is rare that we see a name. I think it’s the same young man. He was in Sandhurst (Bendito) Australia I guess in the 1860s. A few of the gold-diggers returned to Denmark with money and were established as hotel owners or farmers. One bought a farm he called “Gyldensgård”, the golden farm.
